MASA — Adaptive Reuse
MASA (fictional studio) · Architecture · design study Design study
Starting point
A self-initiated experiment: how do you brand an architecture studio that translates industrial buildings into living space — without the usual render clichés? MASA is entirely fictional and built exactly for that: as a study, not a client engagement.
Brief
Self-assigned: name, stance, manifesto, project catalogue and website of a studio that doesn’t exist — executed as seriously as if it did.
Execution
“WE DO NOT RESTORE. WE TRANSLATE.” — around this manifesto grew a presence like a catalogue issue: a cover with an issue number, eight fictional projects as a documentary inventory, a method section, coordinates and timestamps as recurring details. Imagery: free licences and generated photography.
Exploration
What the study yielded: typography alone can carry a brand’s voice; restraint reads as confidence; a documentary hierarchy makes even fictional content credible — lessons that flow straight into client work.
Outcome
- Typography alone carries a brand’s voice — without a single rendering
- Restraint reads as confidence
- Documentary hierarchy makes even fictional content credible
